Deck the Halls with Chiffon, Metallics, and Charlie Lapson


Fall and Winter collections are brimming with metallics, chiffon, androgynous color tones, and enough faux fur to keep every furry creature in hibernation for decades.


My design favorites for ringing in 2011 are the use of chiffon (featured in the dresses worn by the Glee cast members during sectionals!), and metallics that in the right light, literally dazzle.



Of course the right holiday dress is only as good as the holiday/winter ready accessories you pair it with. Try these CL accents with your seasonal ensembles:

We're Feeling Bold This Week

Setting aside the Charlie updates, the bag and accessory of the week and the top restaurants in Los Angeles, there is another area where talent is celebrated in this wonderful city. The talent of producing innovative and thought-provoking movies or shows, yes, it all begins in the land of movies - Hollywood.

This last weekend, the screening of 'The New Ugly - Sketch Comedy for the Emotionally Stunted' was held at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Hollywood, California. Before we get into the synopsis of the play, let us examine a little background to the theater itself and what it's main focus is. Located in Hollywood, the Upright Citizens Brigade is dedicated to fostering both an appreciation and an education of the arts through affordable and high-quality comedic performances and classes. It is the perfect place that gives birth to original talent with cutting-edge humor that is widely watched and talked-about through-out Los Angeles.

Jacki Clarke brings us her latest comedy adventure, 'Some people shouldn't be allowed to leave the house. This show is about those horrible horrible people.' Jackie's latest production, 'The New Ugly' has en-flamed theater-goers with a passion rarely seen off-Broadway. A four-part meditation on the absurdity of contemporary relationships, critics have called The New Ugly "insightful", "provocative", "bawdy", and "just plain fucking nuts". A show where one can laugh about incest, Stephen Hawking and child molestation. If you are open to wild and crazy humor, then this show should definitely be on your list of things to watch! Jackie has created a show about the current happenings with a dark twisted humorous touch urging people to appreciate all that they have rather than spending their lives wanting what they cannot have!

Speaking of something bold and moving toward the fashion highlight of the day - is it just me or has the color 'red' become more popular than ever? Maybe the trendsetter Joan Holloway,  the vixen-like character of MadMen, who became famous for her killer red look, influenced the color for every woman in town. We've seen it on Glee, Desperate Housewives and even on the streets of Los Angeles.

Are you getting ready to go out on the town tonight? Perhaps off to a cool sushi spot? You might want to try matching your red look with dark denim and rubies. Or maybe you're going on a hot date with your significant other so perhaps a classy-sassy red dress with some sparkling diamonds would do the trick. Last but not least, lock this style with a sexy hair, red lipstick, or even jungle red nail polish to feel fabulous with every step you take!

Well, that was an insight into one of the great talents Los Angeles is blessed with and the fashion highlight of the day! When in Europe

We haven't had a chance to update you all on what Charlie's been up to these last few weeks, let's just say, we've been busy but always fabulous!

What does Charlie do that makes us all tilt our heads in admiration?  Charlie Lapson flew into Manchester and Liverpool where he worked with QVC and juggled his time between meetings. The perfect end to his time spent there was a lovely dinner at the counry-side of Manchester and also, a little bit of adventure in the fashion areas of Northern England.

After the busy time, Charlie hopped on a train to Central London for a few more press meetings and interviews. Here, he also celebrated his fourth anniversary working with QVC by introducing his new selection of handbags and jewelry on a QVC special show featuring Charlie Lapson. Between all these events in London, Charlie got to dine with several TV presenters discussing innovative and exciting ideas for the future.

Once the London chapter ended, Charlie flew to Tuscany and spent a considerable amount of time in Florence, searching for the perfect type of leather for his upcoming handbag collection. Charlie found inspiration from his surroundings filled with vibrant colors, people, and music. While in Tuscany, Charlie visited one of his favorite cafes called "Gilli" and took the time to enjoy the magnificent architecture, art, and fashion that the most beautiful city in Italy has to offer.

His last stop was in Milan for a few more meetings and casual dinners with friends in the Brera district, known for its artsy and fashionable shops and settings. His busy and exciting trip came to an end with the utmost satisfaction as Charlie returned to Los Angeles with his new ideas, ever ready to begin planning his new line.

Bag Of The Week

It's time for Bag of the Week! Let's kick-off this week with a splash of Charlie's stylish bag. Take a look below at what we found on Monday strolling down the street just outside our office building. It's one of Charlie's very own...

...off-white hobo bag with silver reptile texturing all over. The silver rings connecting the handles to the bag itself gives a nice touch and the front silver buckle is the perfect finish for the unique style of the bag. The woman holding the bag mentioned how practical this bag was for her, “It can carry all my personal items from make-up to important papers and cards. It's perfect for me!"

Accessory Of The Week

Today we're starting a new chapter in the Charlie Lapson Style blog! In addition to our bag of the week, we will be bringing in accessories weekly that the master has designed himself! From watches, jewelry, cosmetic cases,  and tons of things we find worthy of the spotlight!

Our first post in this category features one of the many glamorous Charlie Lapson watches. The one we chose is a delicate women's watch with an off-white snake skin strap complete with a gold buckle that carries the engraving 'Charlie Lapson'. The face of the watch is surrounded with shimmering diamonds wrapped within a square border. The plate inside the glass features a double ring filled with diamonds all around. It's the perfect watch to add a classy touch to your attire.

An Exciting New Craving Added to California Dinning.

The Stinking Rose, situated in the heart of Beverly Hills-California, has become a star on the famed Restaurant Row for celebrating the culinary euphoria of garlic. It's endless menu features a delectable California-Italian cuisine, including their signature dishes dominated by the piquant aroma of garlic. The Stinking Rose not only attracts attention with it's delicious menu but is also home to five different themed rooms carefully designed to give the customers an entertaining and inspiring experience.

For starters, there is "Dracula's Grotto" – a medieval hideaway – suitable for intimate meals and enjoying all the garlicky treats available. The "Michelangelo Room" features the restaurant's version of the artist's vulnerable creation in which Adam is handed a Garlic-Bulb by God. The third room, the "Piazza and Cafes," is located in the midst of all the themed rooms, offering customers a feel of old Italy and is best known for 'people-watching. The "Chianti Room" glows with relaxing candlelight and Tuscan tradition perfect for uncorking a great evening. Finally, the room that defines the whole restaurant: "Garlywood," which various colorful garlic inspired murals are found, all honoring our favorite Hollywood icon.

BOTW: Bag of the Week!

It's that time of the week again! BOTW, where we feature a Charlie Lapson handbag we are loving at the moment.  This time we decided to change things up a bit.  As you have noticed, in past BOTW posts we have taken the  pictures inside our showroom and had an intern model the bag.  Well, the other day as we were walking the streets of Downtown, LA we spotted this super stylish girl carrying a brown Charlie Lapson handbag.  We love how she wore a white and black striped tee and jean shorts. She even matched her boots to her bag!

Events: LA Rally for Kids Event in Hollywood!

This weekend Charlie attended the LA Rally for Kids event in Hollywood.  The LA Rally for Kids event is an exciting and charitable fundraiser that provides funds for care, treatment, and research for kids suffering from cancer.  The donation of Charlie Lapson handbags, jewelry, and watches raised $40,000 at the Rally For Kids With Cancer Live Auction!

Trend to Try: Lady Like

A fall trend we are currently loving and dying to try this season is the "Lady Like" trend.  This trend takes soft tones of blush pinks, camels, warm browns and pairs them with feminine silhouettes.   Our favorite look here at Charlie Lapson showroom is the nude full skirt pictured above.  The good news is that in order to incorporate this fabulous trend into your daily wardrobe you do not have to go out in search of a full skirt.  A very simple way to translate this runway trend into your daily outfits is by choosing a handbag with a similar look and feel.  Take a look below to see a couple of handbags we have picked out from the Charlie Lapson showroom that will give any outfit that refined "Lady Like" vibe we love right now.

BOTW: Bag Of The Week

It's Bag of the Week time again! Over the past few weeks we've been choosing mainly soft leather bags so this week we decided to pick patent leather! This bag is perfect for the fall season. We love the glossy, shiny finish this bag has. It makes such a bold statement when paired with any outfit. This goes great with a formal look and you can even use it to add a little bit of jazz to a casual outfit.

What we love most about this bag is the silver pyramid studs that appear throughout the bag. It gives it a rocker chic appeal. If you want to add a little bit of an edge to your outfit, a patent leather bag may be the thing for you!
