Charlie Lapson Picks of the Week

With the warm days becoming more permanent, everyone has summer time fun on their mind! Our intern, Leah, has been to many sunny places around the world, but this summer, she has Miami Beach on her mind! The second I knew she was going I had to share my favorite café with her- NEWS CAFÉ.

Sitting right in the heart of the Art Deco District in Miami, Florida, News Café is a sweet spot to go to when you want a good bite to eat without leaving the Miami Beach vibe. Opened in 1988 as a simple newsstand with tables and chairs for coffee, News Café has evolved into a popular café with a pleasant ambiance and tasty food. It has its own separate bar, outside seating area and custom designed retail space.

News Café is open 24 hours so it doesn’t matter if you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Sitting on the patio is always my favorite! Underneath the warm sun, while people watching and taking in all the diversity Miami has to offer, you might forget you were even hungry! Well, almost! News Café has everything on the menu from your favorite burger and fries to Middle Eastern Cuisine. Your options are endless. And don’t even think about leaving the table without getting one or maybe two of News Café’s amazing desserts! So pay a visit to this historical café the next time you’re in town! Experience it for yourself and check in soon to see what our intern Leah has to say about this hot spot!

Bon appetite!

Color Trends

Check out what’s BOLD this Spring!  While pastels and neutrals continue to be the basic color trend standard, you should get ready to COLOR BLOCK. Color blocking is a style that involves some knowledge of the color wheel and a bit of bravery!  The main idea is to combine different colors that support and compliment each other.

When wearing an all white outfit be sure to mix your textures in order to really liven up your attire!
These brief tips will take your outfits from plain to eye-catching and stylish! Have fun and enjoy using your textures and colors in your daily wear as well as living areas!

Charlie Lapson Picks of the Week

XAN Confections Jewels
This Easter skip the traditional chocolate eggs and take a bite out of these artisan chocolate gems.

Xan Confections are non-dairy and gluten-free chocolates yet rich, buttery, and savory.  With chocolates that are vegan, low-glycemic and low-calorie, how can you go wrong?

The Jewel Collection is all-natural dark chocolate gemstones dusted with shimmering color.  Move over diamonds, these little gems are a girl’s new best friend! With flavors such as Espresso Almond, Coconut Pecan Caramel, and Bananas Foster Caramel, the choice may be difficult. Be adventurous and try the Ancho Chili gem. This little gem is packed with just the right amount of heat from the Ancho Chili. A tasty combination makes this buttery tasting caramel the best you have ever had.

Once you sink your teeth into any Xan all-natural chocolate, your mouth will begin to sing. Xan Confections are smooth, creamy and exploding with delicious flavor!

NINJA New York

Sick of the typical wine and dine outing? If you happen to be in New York, check out NINJA New York for a one of a kind dining experience. The menu at NINJA features both traditional Japanese and fusion dishes, offering a wide range selection for those in the mood for a little taste of Japan.

What takes NINJA beyond being just a restaurant is their theme. The interior is designed to represent a “NINJA castle of the feudal days,” with a maze-like layout and intimate rooms for seating. If that doesn’t spark your interest already, watch out for any waiters (dressed as ninjas of course) that might pop out of secret trap doors and give you a show along with your meal.

Dishes marked as a “Ninja art dish,” come with a little entertainment as your Ninja waiters will perform some special effects table-side when your food arrives. The unexpected entertainment and cool ambience is what earned this New York establishment (branched off from the original NINJA located in Akasaka, Tokyo Japan) a spot on the Travel Channel’s Extreme Restaurants.

If you’re ever in the mood for both a dinner AND a show, all at the same time, this is the place to go. You’re sure to be captured by the food and experience… after all, you are dining within a NINJA castle.
